The Pharmacy Services Division at the Directorate General Drug Control & Pharmacy Services is dedicated to advancing pharmaceutical care, optimizing clinical outcomes, and institutionalizing safe medication management across all healthcare settings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. By bridging administrative regulation with clinical practice, this division ensures that medicines are not only safe and accessible, but also prescribed, dispensed, and utilized rationally.
Core Key Functions
Hospital & Clinical Pharmacy Management
Overseeing the institutionalization of clinical pharmacy practices in public and private hospitals to improve treatment efficacy and patient safety.
Pharmacovigilance & Medication Safety
Establishing robust monitoring systems to detect, assess, and prevent adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and medication errors across healthcare facilities in the province.
Rational Drug Use & Antimicrobial Stewardship
Promoting evidence-based prescribing patterns and spearheading initiatives to combat Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) through policy guidelines and clinical audits.
Policy Formulation & Standards
Drafting and implementing comprehensive pharmacy policies, hospital pharmacy manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to align provincial healthcare with international standards.
Academic & Professional Liaison
Collaborating with universities, the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan, and professional bodies to enhance continuous pharmacy education, community pharmacy services, and public health awareness programs.
